The CDC is recommending that all girls, ages 11-12, be vaccinated against HPV.
The Family Research Council reported last week that within the
Centers for Disease Control's new vaccination schedule is an immunization against cancer causing strains of
HPV. The CDC recommends the vaccination for all girls, aged 11-12. Michigan led the charge last year as the first state to require sixth grade girls receive the shot, and it is speculated that Texas, among others, will soon follow.
This speaks to the unfortunate assumption by opponents of abstinence education that, well, kids are going to have sex anyway, so we might as well assume they're going to contract an STD. We, on the other hand, believe that young people can think for themselves, and ought to be challenged to make good decisions.
