Merck to Stop Advocating Mandatory HPV Vaccinations

The New York Times today reported that pharmaceutical giant Merck & Co., maker of HPV Vaccine Gardasil, has halted all lobbying to make the drug mandatory.
As the issue of mandatory HPV vaccination gets more and more politically heated, Merck has decided to step out of the fight. While the company continues to encourage widespread vaccination, it has said that it will no longer lobby for a mandate in any state.
